5 Best Baby Apps for New Moms Who Are Googling Everything

When I had my first child a little over two years ago, I had no clue what I was doing. I read the books. I downloaded the apps. I lived in fear that the first pediatrician appointment was going to end in shame because I didn’t know exactly how many times my baby peed that day.
When you’re a new mom, the early days are often a blur. And it can be hard to track feedings and sleep schedules when you don’t remember the last time you got two consistent hours of rest for yourself.
So my advice? Less is more. Don’t try to download 20 apps on your phone. You likely won’t need them. Pick and choose a two or three of the following apps that sound most interesting to you, and let go of the idea that things are going to be perfect in the newborn days. Aim for more snuggles and less tracking! With that being said, here are a few useful apps to help you navigate this new chapter of life:
P.S. .This isn’t a sponsored list! This is only my opinion.

1. The Wonder Weeks
Developmental leaps and seemingly random fussiness can drive a new mom crazy. So trying to understand why your previously happy baby suddenly becomes fussy may help decrease your new stress. The Wonder Weeks tries to help explain developmental leaps that may affect baby behavior.
The app claims it has decades of research into infant mental development that predict when a baby will go through challenging periods. These “stormy weeks” sometimes happen at predictable times and make sense of sudden changes in sleep, feeding, and mood.
The calendar shows exactly when to expect difficult periods and what new skills your baby is developing. During leap periods, the app provides specific activities and games that support emerging abilities.
The downside? The app does not have many free features, and there’s a cost to predicting what your baby is going through on a given week. I personally did not pay to use it, but I did have friends who swore that it helped them.

2. Huckleberry: Baby Tracker
Naps are a big pain point for new parents. So, this was the app that I personally used this most. Huckleberry combines comprehensive tracking with artificial intelligence that learns a baby’s unique sleep needs. The app allows new parents to easily log sleep that allows the app to provide back personalized recommendations.
More than just sleep, you can also track feedings, diapers, pumping sessions, and activities while the app’s SweetSpot algorithm analyzes your baby’s sleep patterns. After a few days, it predicts optimal nap times with surprising accuracy.
| Feature | How It Helps |
| SweetSpot Predictions | Tells you the exact window when your baby is ready for a nap |
| Sleep Analysis | Provides graphs showing sleep quality trends and identifies problem patterns |
| Expert Consultations | Connect with certified sleep consultants directly through the app for personalized guidance |
| Article Library | Access age-appropriate content about sleep training, feeding schedules, and development |
The downside? Nothing in life is free. The SweetSpot feature is a paid feature. However, the free version includes basic tracking. You may have access to a trial period of SweetSpot when you’re new to the app, but this is subject to change.

3. BabySparks
Encouraging your baby’s development does not require expensive toys or classes. However, things you’re supposed to be working on with your baby do not always feel intuitive for new parents. This is where this app specializes. BabySparks provides daily personalized activity programs based on your baby’s age and developmental stage.
The app offers thousands of activities designed by experts in child development, physical therapy, and early childhood education. Each activity targets specific developmental domains.
You begin by entering in your baby’s birthday, and the app generates a customized daily program with 10-15 minute activities appropriate for current abilities. Activities progress naturally as your baby grows.
The app also offers video demonstrations show exactly how to do each activity. The downside? Once again, the features are somewhat limited if you don’t pay for the app. Currently, you can do two activities per day on the free version, while the paid version has unlimited activities.

4. Peanut
Not many people talk about how isolating new motherhood can be. Peanut is basically social media for moms. Peanut connects you with other mothers in your area who share similar experiences, interests, and parenting philosophies.
With this app, you can “swipe” on local moms in the area and connect for play dates or stroller walks.
My favorite feature of the app is joining groups. For example, I was able to join a group of women who had babies the same month and year I did, and you can post to ask each other questions and have a community of moms all over the world with babies who are the same age as your baby.
The downside? Sometimes it can be hard to make actual friends. I have met up with one local mom from the app in two years of using it. But, moms are busy and it can be hard to make those online messages into real-life connections.

5. Baby Connect
Baby Connect is another tracking app that also connects caregivers if you’re working with a nanny, daycare, or co-parents who want the most detailed record possible.
With this app, you can track feedings, diapers, sleep, mood, medications, doctor visits, vaccinations, milestones, pumping, and custom activities you define yourself.
Real-time syncing means updates appear instantly on all devices. When the nanny logs a feeding, you see it immediately on your phone at work. This is the app that my pre-school uses, so I also personally use this one a lot and find it easy to use.
The takeaway
In case you need to hear it, you are already doing an incredible job as a new mom. These apps simply provide support for the challenging journey you have embraced. Each tool frees up mental energy you can redirect toward enjoying precious moments with your baby. Download a few that address your biggest pain points and give yourself permission to enjoy more snuggles instead of tracking every move.
